Elizabeth Childe

everything is dulled outside
from the richer tones i met you in
& you are dulled inside
passive in your rest

i touched my skin onto yours
politely resting over you
there was a hum
continuation of deep breathing

i fantasized yr arms
holding me
keeping me from floating away
            from walking away

i turned under the blanket
heard the rain outside
like the rain inside
my head flooding

i am standing naked
translucent & obvious
as yr body rythmically folds into out of itself
i am looking past you out in the grey
