from Sheep Dip:
The hand-writing is recognisably his
though deterioration is obvious.
this sunset reckoned
spectacular, the trash
of an outer vocabulary
for where it’s tough
there’s no locale and leisure
only drives against its place
which is why nature has to be
forced back onto itself; the crazy
raddling is furious and takes it out
on those nearabouts, inside
it’s linear but without,
they tread on egg shells
or hang on tenterhooks
like the madly butchered meat
offcut and tenderised
by pounding against the collective
vegetarian face of the altering
markets, they say you can
no longer read yourself, narratology
skewed as if the church warden is everything
and knows better in a gendered district,
from school to work
when there’s a bloody harvest
to be brought in and the skies all baled up
and glowering, and you call
that pretty, as if you’d paint
the fucking thing, as if a brothel keeper
inside my head should take shorthand
